Jan. 09, 2009   George Hospodarsky presents a program for 38 Future Problem Solvers students (grades 5 to 12) and 12 adults (parents and teachers) on 01/09/2009 at the Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA, 52242.  The talk was about space debris and its affect on spacecraft, but also about space physics at the University of Iowa, Professor Van Allen, Cassini, Mars Express, Voyager, Polar, Mars Express, Cluster, Juno, RBSP,Galileo, etc..
 
Jan. 28, 2009   UI Public Lectures Celebrating the International Year of Astronomy. "The Sun Since the Time of Galileo", Steven R. Spangler.

 

Feb. 17, 2009 ,   Photos from C.C.A.,   Demo Show Movie (bad audio),   Cafe Scientifique Department of Physics and Astronomy Public Demonstration Show - "The Physics of Astrophysics: The Universe on a Tabletop", in conjunction with the UI Public Lectures Celebrating the International Year of Astronomy. March 20, 2009  Hawk-Eyes on Science presenting Electricity and Magnetism at the Iowa City Public Library, 10:30-11:30 AM.

 

March 25, 2009 Cafe Scientifique UI Public Lectures Celebrating the International Year of Astronomy. "The Search for Intelligent Life in the Universe". This will also serve as March's Cafe Scientifique. Robert L. Mutel.

 

March 26, 2009 Hawk-Eyes on Science Presenting Electricity and Magnetism to Upward Bound Students from Waterloo, set up by the UI Center for Diversity and Enrichment, organized by Gabriela Rivera, Rm. 309 Van Allen Hall, 1:15 PM.

 

March 29, 2009 Hawk-Eyes on Science Presenting Electricity and Magnetism at the Belin-Blank Center's UI Information Fair, Iowa Memorial Union, 10:00 AM.

 

April 10, 2009 Hawk-Eyes on Science Presenting Electricity and Magnetism to a group of 35 Des Moines high school students, coordinated by Rachel Norman, set up by the UI Center for Diversity and Enrichment Rm. 309 Van Allen Hall, 12:45 - 2:00.

 

April 15, 2009   UI Public Lectures Celebrating the International Year of Astronomy.  "Finding Our Place in the Cosmos", Kenneth G. Gayley. 

 

April 16, 2009 Cafe Scientifique Professor Jerry Schnoor, College of Engineering, "Climate Change Threat and Opportunity: Will Iowa Respond?" T-Spoons, 7:00 - 8:00 PM.

 

April 21, 2009 Hawk-Eyes on Science presenting Electricity and Magnetism to Go! Girls STEM Day, put on by the College of Engineering, 10:00-11:30 AM.

 

April 28, 2009 Hawk-Eyes on Science presenting Electricity and Magnetism to Marion Home School Families, 11:00 AM.

 

May 6, 2009   UI Public Lectures Celebrating the International Year of Astronomy. "Future Spacecraft Exploration of the Solar System", William S. Kurth.

 

May 8, 2009   Hawk-Eyes on Science presenting Electricity and Magnetism to Dr. Walter Cunningham School for Excellence from Waterloo, Rm. 309 Van Allen Hall, 10:40 - 11:40 AM.

 

June 18th, 2009 Hawk-Eyes on Science presenting Electricity and Magnetism and liquid nitrogen demonstrations to the "Big Brothers Big Sisters" of Johnson County at Willow Creek Park in Iowa City.  5:45 pm  start time.

 

July 09, 2009 George Hospodarsky gives a presentation to 40 high school students (9th and 10th grade) and 3 teachers associated with the Iowa Math & Science Academy at Seerley Hall on the University of Northern Iowa Campus, Cedar Falls, IA.  He talked about Iowa's contribution to space exploration, Professor James Van Allen, the history of space physics at the University of Iowa, Cassini, Polar, Cluster, Mars Express, Juno, RBSP, Galileo, Voyager, Pioneer, etc...

 

July 11, 2009  Hawk-Eyes on Science presenting Electricity and Magnetism to the Science Center of Iowa in Des Moines, 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM.

 

July 15, 2009  Dale Stille presenting a session entitled "What is Instructional Resources?" to the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the U of I, Rm. 58 Van Allen Hall, 6:00-7:30 PM.

 

July 16, 2009  Hawk-Eyes on Science presenting Electricity and Magnetism to Iowa City Parks and Recreation Dept. Summer Camp at the Robert A. Lee Recreation Center, 10 AM.

November 19, 2009   Cafe Scientifique Prof. Greg Gray, Director of the Center for Emerging Infectious Diseases and Professor in the Dept. of Epidemiology and International Programs in the U of I College of Public Health, "Swine Influenza: What Do We Know About These Viruses and Their Threat to Humans?", T-Spoons, 5:00 - 6:00 PM.

 

November 20, 2009   Hawk-Eyes on Science presenting Electricity and Magnetism to 1st Graders at North Bend Elementary in North Liberty, 1:30 PM. Coordinated by Elizabeth Clefisch.

 

December 3, 2009   Cafe Scientifique Dr. Witold Krajewski, Director of Iowa Flood Center, College of Engineering, "River Networks and Floods", Discussing hydrologic genesis of floods and the role of different factors in flooding, illustrated with his studies on the Iowa 2008 floods.
