January 12, 2012   Hawk-Eyes on Science presenting Electricity and Magnetism and Lasers to Project HOPE  students, West Liberty, IA, 9:15 - 1:45 pm.  Saba Rasheed Ali coordinating.

 

January 23, 2012   George Hospodarsky speaks to "Foundations in Science" classes at West High School.  The talk centered around space physics and the research of the Radio and Plasma Wave groups at the University of Iowa.  About 35  9th and 10th grade students and their teachers attend. 

 

January 28, 2012   Hawk-Eyes on Science presenting at the "I'll Make Me a World in Iowa" festival.  Des Moine, IA.  11:00 - 2:00.  Michelle Taylor-Frazier coordinating.

 

February 3, 2012  AMCS Seminar. Professor Yannick Meurice speaks on Mathematical Problems in Lattice Field Theory. Topic covers introduction of lattice models and their physical applications and discussion of how these models can be studied using perturbative and renormalization group methods. 

 

February 28, 2012  George Hospodarsky speaks to "Space Science" classes at Clear Creek Amana High School. The talk centered around Van Allen, Juno, RBSP, Cassini, Voyager, Galileo, Pioneer and more. About 14 students and 1 teacher attend.

May 7, 2012 George Hospodarsky gives a talk about being a space physicist, history of space physics at Iowa, Cassini, Juno, RBSP, Galileo, Cluster, Polar, and Mars Express to 8th graders and their teachers at Northwest Jr. High, located 1507 8th Street, Coralville, IA.

May 29, 2012  Vincent Rodgers gave a presentation on the mathematics of the big bang and early universe. "How we get to know our Universe?" Demonstrations included Lenz's Law, electromagnetic spectrum, and radio transmission. . Northwest Junior High School, 9:20-10:00am. Pat Curry coordinating.

 

July 9, 2012  Hawk-Eyes on Science gives a presentation for the National Scholars Institute, Belin-Blank Center.  James Wetzel coordinating.

Aug. 17, 2012  Hands-On demonstrations provided to Hallsie Reno, Jacob Lamb, and Noah Mateen for the 2nd Annual "On Iowa" CLAS open house.

Sept. 7, 2012  Dale Stille and Micha McKinlay start the school year off with a "Bang" at a City High Pep Rally.  Principal John Bacon coordinating.  

 

Sept. 19, 2012   Hawk-Eyes in Space.  Professor Craig Kletzing presents the Van Allen Probes at Figge Museum in Davenport to the UL Alumni.

 

Oct. 4, 2012  Hawk-Eyes on Science give a general physics presentation for the WISE "First Year Seminar Lab Tours".  

 

Oct. 9, 2012  Hawk-Eyes on Science presents at the Noche de Ciencias nite in the Seamans Center, U of Iowa Engineering Auditorium.  

 

Oct. 11, 2012  Hawk-Eyes on Science do some E&M demonstrations at the West Liberty High School Noche de Ciencias (science nite).  Jairo Muñoz, Ph.D., Rockwell Collins coordinating.

 

Oct. 12, 2012  Astronomy demonstrations provided to Scott Bounds for a presentation on the history of astronomy.

Nov. 2, 2012  George Hospodarsky presents at the ICON 37 Science Fiction Convention in Cedar Rapids.  The talk centered around the U of Iowa missions and in particular RBSP and Van Allen.

 

Nov. 13, 2012   Hawk-Eyes on Science presenting at the "Fall 2012 GO! Girls STEM Day", College of Engineering, 1:30 - 2:15, Abby Higgins coordinating.  

 

Nov. 14, 2012   Hawk-Eyes on Science bringing some science station hands-on activities to Coralville Central family science nite, 6 - 7 pm, Becca coordinating.

Nov. 19, 2012   Michael Flatté presents demonstrations on magnets, electromagnets, motors, and AC vs. DC electricity to three classes at Lucas Elementary, 1 to 3 pm.

 

 

Dec. 6, 2012  Hawk-Eyes on Science do some E&M demonstrations for students from the Des Moines Schools in LR70 Van, 10 to 11 am.  Cyrus Nichols, Assistant Director, Diversity Outreach and Recruitment coordinating.

 

Dec. 6, 2012  Hawk-Eyes on Science do some E&M demonstrations at the Central Middle School in Waterloo for their Noche de Ciencias (family science nite).  Noel Valentin coordinating.

 

Dec. 7, 2012  Hawk-Eyes on Science do some E&M demonstrations for students from the Waterloo Upward Bound program in Rm 350 Van, 1:30 to 2:30 pm.  Cyrus Nichols, Assistant Director, Diversity Outreach and Recruitment coordinating.
