                            Chicago Il., Professors Vincent Rodgers and Victor Rodgers.

March 1st, 2005 "Einstein and Symmetry", Prof. Bill Klink, University of Iowa,

                               speaking at Truman State, Kirksville, Missouri.

 

March 24th, 2005    Dream Sharer's Project, 6th thru 8 grade students of Cedar Rapids.

                                                    Coordinated by Nancy Humbles, Opportunity at Iowa.

 

March 28, 2005  "Why Einstein Would Love Spaghetti in Fundamental Physics"

                               Prof. S. James Gates Jr., University of Maryland.

 

April 3rd, 2005 "Einstein and Symmetry", Prof. Bill Klink, University of Iowa,

                               speaking before "The No Nothing Club".

 

 April 8th, 2005   "100 Black Men of the Quad Cities",  1:30 to 2:30  in  309

                              Van Allen, Coordinated by Irv Burnett, Opportunity at Iowa.

 

April 19th, 2005   Mount Vernon High School.  Two Shows of Chemistry & Physics.

 

April 20th, 2005    Johnson County Neighborhood Center,  6 to 7 pm, in 309 Van Allen.

                                                 Coordinated by Irv Burnett, Opportunity at Iowa.

 

April 28th, 2005    Washington High School, Cedar Rapids.  Two sessions featuring

                                                chemistry and physics demonstrations given by Dale Stille and

                                                 Professor Vincent Rodgers.

                                                 Movie: Dale and the Hydrogen Balloon, Movie: Another Hydrogen balloon, Movie: Hydrogen balloon,

                                                Movie: Hydrogen plus oxygen balloon.

 

May 1st, 2005    "Strings and Superstrings", featuring violinist Jack Liebeck, pianist

                              Inon Barnatan, and Professor Brian Foster - Particle Physics at

                              Oxford.  Introductions by University of Iowa President David Skorton.

                                              6:00 pm at Clapp Recital Hall.  There is no admission fee. 

 

May 3rd, 2005  "The Science of Optics; The History of Art"

                               Prof. Charles M. Falco, University of Arizona.

 

May 3rd, 2005    "MESA/ICCSD Tutorial Program ( Multi-Ethnic Engineering Student

                                 Association and Iowa City Community School District tutorial

                                 program.  Demonstration night with Prof. Vincent Rodgers,

                                 Dale Stille, Nichole Kiefer (junior undergraduate), and Xiaolong Liu

                                 (graduate student).

June 30th, 2005  Outreach Program,  McKinley African-American Awareness Program,

                               10 am to 11 am, in LR2 Van Allen.

July 13th, 2005    Jane Boyd Community Center program,  Cedar Rapids, IA.  10 am to 12 pm.

July 15th, 2005    Outreach event, Washington High School - Academy Summer program, 

                              at Kirkwood Community College, Cedar Rapids, IA, 10 am to 12 pm.

                                                

July 16th, 2005  "Math / Science Upward Bound Program", Waterloo, IA.  A lecture and

                                         demonstrations for 8th grade students by Dale Stille and Vincent Rodgers

                                          in LR2 Van, 1 to 3 pm.

 

 

July 19th, 2005    Belin-Blank - Iowa Talent Project student program, Rm. 309 Van Allen Hall,

                              9:30 am to 12:30 pm.  Outreach activities and a lecture by Vincent Rodgers.

 

 

August 4, 2005    Black Inventors Camp,  Des Moines, IA.  10:30 am to 12 pm. 

 

 

 

August 19th, 2005 " Hawk-Eyes on Science" was at the University of Iowa booth at the

                                              Iowa State Fair.  Time was from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the

                                              Varied Industries Exhibitor building.  Information, activities, and give

                                                 away items highlighting World Year of Physics 2005 ( WYP 2005 ) was

                                                the focus.

 

 

Sept. 6th, 2005    ARC program in Cedar Rapids at McKinley Elementary,  2:00 to 4:30pm.

                                           Agenda: Electricity and Magnetism, Contest for Generator Construction,

                             Introduction to Science Projects and Invent Iowa.

 

 

Sept. 8th, 2005    Cafe Scientifique, 5:00 to 6:00 pm. at "The Cottage Bakery".  Prof. Ken

                             Gayley, "The Early Universe: What does this mean and what we know?"

 

 

Sept. 9th, 2005    Opportunity at Iowa, 1:15 to 2:15 pm. in LR 70 Van. 

 

 

Sept. 10th, 2005    Chicago Youth Group Campus Visit, 10:30 am. in LR 70 Van, coordinated
